Our mission is to provide a free, safe, and supportive healing environment with a diverse, respectful, non-judgmental, caring volunteer crew that provides medical and crisis support for patrons and staff at music festivals and other events.
HEM manifests this mission in many ways: Helping to eliminate economic barriers to healthcare by offering free medical and crisis support through our diverse volunteer staff with many years of festival and clinical medical/crisis experience. Assisting large events and local EMS providers in relieving the burden on local medical facilities by providing Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid, counseling services, and traumatic injury stabilization while working in partnership with local medical and crisis officials, including hospitals, urgent care, medical clinics, Fire and Police, 911 dispatch and event planners and their security teams.
We offer training in crisis Intervention, Harm Reduction, crowd management, and other skills that help our volunteer staff feel more confident going into any emergency situation, whether at work, at home, or anywhere in between. We offer a different type of medical experience with a diversity of expertise and we encourage all volunteers to share their talents and knowledge with each other to expand all of our understanding and to encourage a community environment. We offer a fully mobile medical and crisis clinic along with training for all our volunteers in the effective use of our resources.
Harmony Event Medicine is an experienced team of medical and crisis workers that has been offering free, diverse medical/crisis services, fun and safe event experiences to patrons of musical festivals and events since 2003. Our All Volunteer Staff consists of MD’s, ND’s, RN’s, PA’s, PT’s, EMT’s, LMT’s, DC’s, Crisis Support Specialists, First AID Responders, Mom’s, Dad’s, Children, and Set-up Crew, and Cooks, and more. Beyond all the medical/crisis support we provide to patrons and staff on site, we also coordinate with outside EMS and Hospitals and clinics to help our patients find follow up care to help them beyond our limited capabilities in the field.
Why We Are Needed at Festivals and Events:
There are myriad medical and crisis situations that festival and event participants find themselves in. We provide support for dehydration, dizziness, heat exhaustion, crowd anxiety, effects from excessive substance ingestion, trauma support, lost/found child situations, as well as all types of physical conditions, such as dancing injuries, pre-existing injury/illness support, bee stings, allergies, among hundreds of other conditions that folks may need help with. Our All Volunteer Staff is a well rounded and diverse group of medical and crisis professionals and helpers, trained to handle these situations and more in a nontraditional medical facility and setting. Our overall goals are to help create a fun and safe experience for festival goers and to provide an opportunity for folks that want to help in fulfilling our mission to do so in a safe, nonjudgmental, nurturing environment. If interested in offering your help, please see the Events and Volunteer page for further details.
